Open Dialogue with “The Taste of Things” filmmaker Tran Anh Hung.

In this edition of Meet Me at the Movies: Open Dialogue, Thomas Manning talks with filmmaker Tran Anh Hung about The Taste of Things. Hung was recognized with the Best Director honor at the 76th Cannes Film Festival for his work on this romantic drama film that examines the beauties of the culinary arts.

Starring Juliette Binoche and Benoît Magimel, The Taste of Things was France’s submission for Best International Feature at the 2024 Oscars.

Official Synopsis:

Set in France in 1889, the film follows the life of Dodin Bouffant as a chef living with his personal cook and lover Eugénie. They share a long history of gastronomy and love but Eugénie refuses to marry Dodin, so the food lover decides to do something he has never done before: cook for her.

In select theaters beginning February 9th, 2024.
In theaters nationwide February 14th, 2024.

Thomas Manning is a member of the NCFCASEFCA, and CCA, and also the co-host of the television show and radio program Meet Me at the Movies. He has served as a production assistant and voting member on the Film Selection Committee for the Real to Reel Film Festival. Additionally, he manages his own film review and interview site, The Run-Down on Movies. Manning is a graduate of Gardner-Webb University with a double-major in Communications and English. His passion for cinema and storytelling is rivaled only by his love for the music of Taylor Swift.
