A Conversation with producer/director Chris Hudson. [Real to Reel Film Festival]

“Reel Conversations” highlights filmmakers behind official Real to Reel Film Festival Selections. On this episode of “Reel Conversations,” Thomas Manning speaks with Chris Hudson, producer/director for The Mayberry Effect. A humorous and inspiring documentary, The Mayberry Effect explores how The Andy Griffith Show has influenced individuals and audiences over many generations. From Bible studies, to fan celebrations, to tribute artists, to the philosophy of nostalgia, The Mayberry Effect asks the question … is Mayberry more than just a place? Hudson, a filmmaker for more than two decades, felt drawn to examining the lasting power of The Andy Griffith Show, and its continued effect nearly 60 years after it first hit TV screens.

For over two decades, Real to Reel has showcased thought-provoking films from around the world and offers opportunities for cinema-lovers to embrace the independent vision of this unique art form. The Cleveland County Arts Council will host films like The Mayberry Effect for the 21st Annual “Real to Reel International Film Festival.” The festival will be fully online this year through Seed & Spark due to the COVID-19 pandemic, featuring official selections Sept. 9 – Oct. 9, 2020.
