Elements of Madness contributor Thomas Manning recently spoke with showrunner/actor Julian De Zotti and actress Anna Hopkins about the new anthology series For the Record, which premiered at SXSW 2021. Over the course of their 10-minute conversation, they discuss the inspiration for the story and characters, their versatile backgrounds in the entertainment industry, and the power of music’s relationship with everyday life.
For The Record is an anthology series about the songs that make up the “life playlist” of an interconnected cast of characters. The first episode, premiering at SXSW, follows Angela (Anna Hopkins) and Ray (Julian De Zotti) coming to terms with their breakup as they divide up records from their shared collection. The songs featured provide a soundtrack to the episode and to the lives of Angela and Ray – showcasing how music can represent some of our most pivotal moments in life. The series also stars Johnny Orlando, Kira Clavell, Karen LeBlanc & Lyriq Bent.
