Meet Me at the Movies: SXSW 2026 Breakouts & Hidden Gems

SXSW 2026 ran from March 12th – 18th, 2026 and I had the pleasure of covering the festival once more. Accompanied by EoM Contributors Justin Waldman and AJ Friar, we screened 24 films and provided reviews for each. Out of the 11 I screened, several not only jumped out above the rest, they easily made it to my favorites list for 2026. In this episode of Meet Me at the Movies, I join host Noel T. Manning to talk about five such titles that you should keep an eye out for in the coming months.

What films are generating buzz out of SXSW 2026—and which ones should be on your radar?

On this episode of Meet Me at the Movies, host Noel T. Manning II is joined by Douglas Davidson of Elements of Madness to break down some of their personal festival favorites. From bold storytelling to genre-bending surprises, they spotlight standout titles including Edie Arnold is a Loser, Campeón Gabacho, Never After Dark, And Her Body Was Never Found, and Black Zombie.

Whether you’re tracking the next breakout indie hit or just love discovering new voices in cinema, this conversation offers insight, energy, and a few surprises along the way. Which of these films will break through—and which ones already have critics talking?
