Open Dialogue with “Skyfire” director Simon West.

Film director Simon West is no stranger to action/adventure films. From Con Air, to Laura Croft: Tomb Raider, to The Expendables franchise, to the Mechanic – West has always had an appreciation for infusing energy into the cinema. With the film Skyfire, he brings a disaster flick with heart to the screen that explores family, choices and one mother of a volcano. Today on Open Dialogue with Noel T. Manning II, Simon West talks his love of disaster films, the joy of trying new things and the excitement of working with 17 different nationalities on the dual-language film – Skyfire.

Open Dialogue provides an opportunity for talents of the entertainment industry to talk about their craft, their hopes, and their ongoing journey of arts and entertainment. Noel T. Manning II, host of Open Dialogue, has been an entertainment journalist for over three decades and is a member of several film critics’ organizations.

Noel T. Manning is a member of the CCA, SEFCA and the NCFCA and is also the host of the television program and radio show Meet Me at the Movies. He’s the founder of the Real to Reel Film Fest and is an adjunct professor of film studies. When he’s not embracing mainstream, indie, international, documentary or art films, he’s digging into the world of cinema by chatting with principle individuals involved in various aspects of the filmmaking industry.
