Lockout (movie review primer)

Tomorrow’s screening and review will be of James Mather and Stephen St. Leger’s Lockout.

Based on the trailer, the premise appears to be that one man is hired to save the president’s daughter from a prison riot in progress…in space.

And here I thought the summer film season started May 4th.

I agree that it doesn’t sound like the greatest film ever made, but Luc Besson is credited as one of the screenwriters and his action films never disappoint. This one stars Guy Pearce (L.A. Confidential, Memento) as the hero, Snow, with Maggie Grace (Taken, Lost) as the damsel, Emilie Warnock. I don’t have high expectations on the plot, but I do expect some crazy stunts and action. More tomorrow.

If you’re unfamilar with Luc Besson by name, here are a few of the projects he’s written, directed, or lent his touch to:

Leon: The Professional

The Fifth Element

Kiss of the Dragon

The Transporter

District B13

Unleashed

Taken
